Michel Vaillant is the hero of a series of Cartoon created by Jean Graton. It makes its appearance in 1957 in Tintin , in a short history in four boards. Four other stories of the same format will follow, before the publication of the first album in 1959. It will be published in Tintin until in 1976. The author will be assisted of his third wire Philippe Graton, which will take over completely in 1994, with the assistance of the Studio Graton for the realization.

Michel Vaillant was also used in advertizing albums carried out for car manufacturers like Renault or Ford, of the oil groups like Elf or Chevron… the albums of the series also were the subject of special republications for commercial distribution in service stations, post offices or great events of mechanical sport.
