Valgrind is a free tool of programming for déboguer.

It in the beginning was conceived to be a free version of Purify under GNU/Linux, on architecture X86. It evolved/moved today, while becoming a generic Framework for the creation of dynamic tools like “checkers” and “profilers”. It has an excellent reputation and is largely widespread among the programmers GNU/Linux.

Valgrind is a modular software. Among the modules one finds for example Memcheck, which makes it possible to flush out the faults in a program on the level of the core use. Memcheck checks inter alia:

• That one does not use not initialized values or pointers
• That one does not read released zones memory
• Which one does not read of zones memory apart from what one has allocated
• That one does not forget to release the allocated memory. Options make it possible to know with precision the storage areas which are lost.
