Valetta ( Valletta as Maltese and English) (population: 6.135 inhabitants In 2005), is the Capitale of the Republic of Malta and the principal city of the island.
It is a city of the 16th century including/understanding of many buildings of the time of the Chevaliers of the Holy Hospital Jean of Jerusalem, which controlled the city and the island during long centuries.

With 320 monuments on a surface of 55 hectares, Valetta constitutes the strongest historical concentration in the world. This natural port, one of deepest of Europe, was with the crossroads of the sea routes.
The city is registered on the list of the World heritage of UNESCO since 1980.
The mayor of Valette is Dr. Paul Borg Olivier since 1999. He is member of the nationalist Parti, which is majority with the Council of the City.
