Valerio Zurlini

Valerio Zurlini (March 19th 1926, Bologna - October 28th 1982, Vérone) is an Italian scenario writer, at the same time scenario writer and director.

Biography

After studies in right and history of art, it is directed towards the cinema and turns from 1948 to 1955 about fifteen documentary short films. It carries out its first feature-length film, the Young girls of San Frediano in 1955, an adapted dramatic comedy of the novel of Vasco Pratolini.

In 1957 he writes the scenario of Guendalina , which Alberto Lattuada will turn.

In 1959 Be violent comes then, then in 1960 the Girl with the bag , with Claudia Cardinale and Jacques Perrin, which obtains a critical and public success.

In 1962 it turns Diary with Marcello Mastroianni and Jacques Perrin, for which it obtains the Lion of Gold to Venice.

It then puts in scene films less led like Of the women for the army in 1965 or Black Jesus, sitting on his line in 1968, before finding success in 1972 with the Professor (PRIMA notte di quiete) with Alain Delon, Sonia Petrovna and Lea Massari.

The strongest work of Valerio Zurlini is perhaps the faithful adaptation in 1976 of the novel of Dino Buzzati the Desert of the Tartars with remarkable decorations of the strong old man of the time of the Croisés and a prestigious international distribution which posts Vittorio Gassman, Giuliano Gemma, Philippe Noiret, Jacques Perrin, Laurent Terzieff, Fernando Rey, Jean-Louis Trintignant, max von Sydow, Helmut Griem, Francisco Rabal and for the music Ennio Morricone.

Valerio Zurlini dies in 1982.
