Valerianaceae

The family of the Valérianacées is a family of plants Dicotylédone S about the Dipsacales which includes/understands more than 300 species divided into 15 kinds:

  • Aligera, Aretiastrum, Astrephia, Belonanthus, Centranthus, Fedia, Nardostachys, Patrinia, Phuodendron, Phyllactis, Plectritis, Pseudobetckea, Stangea, Valeriana, Valerianella .

They are herbaceous plants, sometimes shrubs of the zones moderated with tropical except the Africa, Madagascar and southern Asia.

One can quote in the flora of France, the Valériane (kind Valeriana ) and the Mâche or doucette (kind Valerianella ).

The Classification APG II (2003) suggests, optionnellement, including all the plants of this family in the Caprifoliacées sensu lato .
