Valentine Neuville is a Compositeur and Organiste French born on April 12th 1863 with Rexpoëde and struck down by a leukemia in June 1941 with Lyon.
Born in the Flandres Frenchwomen from a father Organ builder S, Valentine Neuville makes his musical studies in Belgium; outstanding commendation award of organ, counterpoint and orchestration to the Conservatory of Brussels, it begins at once a career from organist.
Holder with Lyon (Saint-Nizier then Saint-François-of-Dirty), he is also professor of organ to the academy where it forms a whole generation of brilliances musicians, among them Edouard Commette.
He leaves an abundant work: very many parts of organ, like Offertoire in 1884, Meditation in 1884, bridal Cantilena , Christmas and haversacks , Lullaby , Allegretto in 1893, Stained glass in 1931 (a musical form created by Marcel Dupre), and Flandres in 1936, a triptych: Fire and Blood, Tombs of children, Flowered Peace. And of the symphonies, of the oratorios ( Notre-Dame de Fourvière ), of the chamber music (its Sonata for violin and piano was recorded by Franck Della Valle and Claude Collet), a curious part for shadow theater ( the Four-leaf clover ). Its operas ( Tiphaine , Willis , Madeleine , the Child , the Blind man ) are played between 1899 and 1909 in Belgium, in Germany, in Sweden successfully. Paradoxically, criticism in France, particularly in Lyon, is very hard and it will fall into the lapse of memory.
Its sixty melodies for song and piano are to be discovered. The Proses of dead the , written with his/her friend the poet Eugene Vial, are an authentic masterpiece. (recording by Mario Hacquard HTTP: //hacquard.onlc.fr/, baritone and Claude Collet, piano). It leaves there épancher an extreme sensitivity, romantic lyricism with impressionism more contained; the language, simple of appearance, conceals many richnesses of harmony and counterpoint.
