Valentim Fernandes
Valentim Fernandes , known as Valentim Fernandes the German or Valentim Fernandes of Moravie, sometimes francized as a Valentine Ferdinand, was a printer and German translator, originating in Moravie, which settled with Lisbon in 1495 and is remained there during 23 years. It translated and published several classic authors, inter alia Marco Polo. He was corresponding several intellectuals and artists, like Albrecht Dürer and Hieronymus Münzer, and forwarded to Germany the news of the great Portuguese discoveries.
