Valence CF ( Valencia Club of Fútbol in Spanish) is a club of Spanish Football based with Valence (Spain).

History

Beginnings

The Valencia Football Club is founded the March 18th 1919 in full festival of the Falles of Valence. Octavio Augusto Milego Díaz is the first president of the club and was drawn with pile or face. The first official match takes place the May 21st 1919 with Castellón against Gimnástico, match lost 1-0.

In 1923, the club leaves the stage of Algirós to go to play Mestalla. The first official match opposes them to Castellón Castalia and ends in a tie. Revenge is played the following day and this time, the match is gained by Valence 1-0. In 1923, the Valencian club gains the regional championship what enables him to take part for the first time of its history in the Copa del Rey.

The first success out of cut

The Fifties

The Eighties and Nineties, relegation in division 2 and rebirth

Arturo Tuzón is named president of the club and brings back Valence in first divison with the assistance of the coach, di Stéfano. Alfredo Di Stefano which will remain coach of the club until the season 1987-88 and the 14th final place of the club. The Bulgarian attacker , Luboslav Penev comes to reinforce the club in 1989.

Guus Hiddink is named trainer for the season 1991-92 but the club can do better only one 4th final place in championship and it is eliminated as of the 1/4 from finale from the cut from Spain. In 1992, Valence CF becomes officially a Sporting Limited Company and renewed Hiddink as principal trainer until in 1993.

Carlos Alberto Parreira, arrives at Mestalla in 1994 after a world cup succeeded at the head of the Brésil. It transfers as of its arrival the Spanish goalkeeper Andoni Zubizarreta, attacking it Russian Oleg Salenko and the Yugoslav Predrag Mijatovic but the expected results is not with go and a new trainer is named, Jose Manuel Rielo. In the middle of the years 1990, the club still does not manage to find successes of last in spite of the passage to the club of large trainers as Luis Aragonés and Jorge Valdano or players like Claudio López, Ariel Ortega or Romario. Finally, it is Claudio Ranieri which carries out the team until the victory of the cut of Spain at the time of the season 1998-99.

Recent successes

Héctor Cúper replaces Ranieri after success out of cut and immediately it introduces a new philosophy of offensive football into the team, showing a first final of Ligue of the champions lost 3-0 with Saint-Denis vis-a-vis the rival of the Real Madrid. The following season, Cúper leads the club towards one second final of Ligue of the champions lost this time against the Bayern Munich to the shootings to the goals.

Rafael Benítez becomes the new trainer after the departure of Cúper and at the time of the season 2001-02, Valence gains after 31 years of waiting the championship of Spain. At the time of the season 2003-04, the club even realizes doubled by gaining the title of champion of Spain and by gaining the UEFA Cup vis-a-vis the Olympique of Marseilles.

October 28th, 2007 Quique Sánchez Flores (trainer of the club since 2005) is thanked after the defeat for Valence against FC Seville (3-0) the evening even. For the moment it is the trainer of the team holds which it remplacejusqu' with new order.

October 31st, 2007 old the internacional Dutch Ronald Koeman becomes the new trainer of FC Valence.

Stage

The club carries out its matches with Mestalla in full center town of Valence since 1923. It can accommodate 55.000 spectators. A new stage should see the day in 2009, the Nou Mestalla which will be able to acceuillir 75.000 people.
