Valdaï

The hills Valdaï (in Russian: Валда́йскаявозвы́шенность gold Валда́й, Latvian: Valdaja augstiene) are an area of the North-West of the central Russia, aligned north in the south, approximately halfway between Saint-Pétersbourg and Moscow, crossing the Oblast S of Novgorod, Tver, Pskov and Smolensk.

Valdaï are a northern extension of the High-ground S of central Russia. The chain is covered with glacial deposits , in the form of Moraine S and other refuses. Valdaï culminate close to Vychni Volotchek with 343 meters. The River S the Volga, Daugava, Lovat, Msta and some others draw their source in the hills. One finds thus there several Lac S, like the Lac Volgo, the Lac Peno, the Lac Seliger, the Lac Brosno and the Lac Valdaï.

Popular tourist destination, Valdaï are a true paradise for the fishermen. The towns of Ostashkov and Valday are also remarkable for their history.
