Valcartier garrison

the Garrison Valcartier is a military garrison of the Canadian Armed forces located immediately at the North-West of the town of Quebec, close to the district Laurentien. It belongs to the 5th Group of support of Sector, which constitutes super-bases also gathering the St-Jean Garrisons and Montreal of the Quebec Sector of the terrestrial Force.

History

The Valcartier garrison was built in an original manner like military camp in August 1914, partly because of the mobilization of the Canadian Task force for the First World War. Being given the proximity of the wearing of Quebec, Valcartier became the largest military camp on the Canadian ground with its 32  000 men and 8000 horses.

Valcartier also has a bunker, built at the time of the Cold war, which was intended to protect from many personalities. Today, it is used only for general lodging and does not have any more a strategic role.

    • 5th Regiment of the genius of Royal combat
    • 22e Regiment (3 battalions)
    • QGET (General headquarter and squadron of transmissions)
  • 5th Ambulance of countryside
  • 430e tactical Squadron of helicopters
  • Music of Royal the 22e Regiment
  • Quebec Detachment of the regional Unit of support of the Juniors (Is)
  • part of the 5th Group by support of Sector, which includes/understands various services of institutional support, of which:
    • 5th Battalion of service
    • 5th military Unit of police force
  • National service of investigation of the Canadian Armed forces military unit of police force
  • Research and development on Defense - Canada of the Ministry for Defense

The Valcartier Garrison also accommodates the Center of instruction of summer of the juniors by the Valcartier army, which allows the drive of the royal Cadets by the Canadian army with the assistance of the regional Unité of support for the juniors (is).
