Vaivre-and-Montoille

Vaivre-and-Montoille are a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Saône and the area Franche-Comté.

Geography

Commune of 2752 inhabitants, located at the West of the community of communes of the agglomeration of Vesoul, it forms integral part of this one. Its economic life rests mainly on the Peugeot factory established partially on the territory of the Commune and the common neighbor of Noidans-les-Vesoul. Other smaller, artisanal, commercial companies take part and give in it to our commune an attractive character for its inhabitants. Located entirely on the commune of Vaivre-and-Montoille, a lake of a surface of 90 hectares decorates the leisures of many visitors: veil, board with veil, fishes, swimming, hiking. Vaivre-and-Montoille remains and a relaxation center of attraction of all the Vésulienne agglomeration.

History

Formerly, Vaivre was a domanial ground of the Counts de Bourgogne. The king of France which succeeded to them in 1674 was only the higher dispenser of justice. The family of Vaivre is known as of the 12th century. This one is extinct at the 17th century with François de Vaivre died in 1674. The church Saint Christophe was rebuilt between 1738 and 1771, except the heart of the 12th century and the side chapel of XVIe prolonged at the 18th century. The town hall, beautiful and vast house of the 18th century, occupies the old house of Seguin de Jallerange since 1844. Several other houses date from the 17th century. Montoille common in 1790 and year 8 was joined together in Vaivre by the decree of January 6th, 1807. Antoine of Day was lord of this hamlet in 1611. Vaivre and Montoille were like good of other villages inhabited by farmers carrying out, it does not have there so a long time still an hard life, curving the spine under the bad weather, facing the sun in order to nourish their family with the product of their work. One observed his change about the years 1960 at the time of the installation of the first factories with Vesoul.
