Vairotsana

-------------------- Vairotsana is sometimes called in a “gesture” of respect, Vairocana , the central Buddha of the five families of Buddhas. Vairocana, of the Tathagata family, means shining upon, illuminating in Sanskrit, whereas Vairotsana is a Tibetan term indicating the tree kacimbala , a species of oak. ---------------------- Vairotsana of Pagor (Tib.: Be-ro-tsa-Na) is a famous translator Tibetan and an achieved yogi, contemporary of the king Trisong Detsen, who reigned from 755 to 797. Vairotsana is one of the twenty-five principal disciples of Padmasambhava. On a prediction of this last, the king found it in Pagor, and the eight year old boy expressed already most subtle comprehension, being the incarnation of a bodhisattva tenth ground . He was one of the first seven monks ordered by Shantarakshita. He learned the Sanskrit so that he could be sent to fifteen years near Shri Singha, and known sixteen tests during the perilous tour towards India. He however met many Masters of which he accepted the lesson, and who showed the way to him towards Dhahena, where resided Shri Singha.

This last transmitted to him, rare privilege, the complete teaching of the Atiyoga, it “beyond the union”, the Tantra S not-duel S. It taught to him of night, in the greatest secrecy, because important breakings of oath tantric (samaya) had been made, preventing the propagation of its line in India. From day it received the dualistic lesson tantric of the other scholars. Shri Singha in return entrusted to Vairotsana the task to propagate the “Series of space” (Longdé) and the “Series of the spirit” (Semgdé) of the Dzogchen Atiyoga. As for the “Series of the instructions” (Mengakdé), third shutter of this important whole of lesson and techniques of the Vajrayāna, it was brought back by her not less famous “brother in dharma”, Vimalamitra.

Before turning over to Tibet, through ingeniousness and of siddhis, Vairotsana had to charm will soutras them and tantras soiled (see higher) which had been hidden and sealed with Bodhgaya. It followed a continuation of yogic race using the resources of the subtle body, the dispach riders of the university of Nalanda pursueing Vairotsana. This one could be however combined one of these dispach riders, like several frontier guards, by the charisma of its realization and its lesson.

Vairotsana turned over finally to Tibet to the age of fifty-seven years, that is to say an Indian tour of forty-two years. He then undertook his enormous task of translation, of which also treaties of medicine and astrology. From day he taught the tantrism, and of night, in secrecy, he taught the atiyoga with the king… However, thanks to the conjunction of the disappointed loves of the Margyen queen, of the operations of discredit of the authorities of Bodhgaya, and the fight of influence of various ministers, it was constrained with the exile, the king having already tried first once to claim to drown it, whereas it had substituted a beggar to him.

Although the queen had repented, Vairo had to go to Tsawarong, a country bordering on Tibet. Making way it was escorted by all those which remained to him faithful, and benefitted from it to give many lesson.

Believer who it was about a spy, people of Tsawa retained it captive and tortures inflicted to him of which there remained detached, thus exhausting old Karma S. Seeing that the Dru queen, as well as the king and her subjects, excused herself then paid homage to him, particularly prince Yudra Nyingpo which became its principal disciple. This one had heard and memorized will tantras them that Vairotsana recited whereas he was prisoner in his pit. Yudra begged it ardently, and Vairotsana accepted it by imposing nine years of difficult conditions to him aiming to aguerrir it and purify it. It was in particular sent in “embassy” to Tibet, at Vimalamitra and of the king.

Meanwhile Trisong Detsen had invited Vimalamitra with its course to replace Vairo, but the king died before his arrival. Vimalamitra had also received the complete teaching of Shri Singha and had carried out the highest achievements. The apprehended conflict of the two yogis thus did not take place, and, after demonstrations of siddhis, those cooperated to supplement the work of Vairotsana. Both initiated excellent disciples. As for the new king, his pride had to be lowered before it can receive best the teaching of the two Masters.
