The play was die produced mainly by the team responsible for Final Fantasy Tactics , and is one of the rare titles to have obtained the maximum note in the Japanese magazine Famitsu, 40 out of 40.

The intrigue of the play turns around Ashley Riot, an agent of elite sent in the city of LéaMundis to inquire into the bond which the chief of a sect maintains with a member the Parliament, the Duke Bardora. Ashley was shown murder of the Duke, and the play tells the events which proceeded one week before the assassination.

The play is dissociated from a traditional roleplay insofar as its gameplay presents neither stores nor interactions with characters not-players, concentrating on the other hand on the creation and the modification of weapons.

Gameplay

Vagrant Story is a , in which the player directs Ashley Riot in the exploration of the phantom Ville and the catacombs of LéaMundis. The play the system of combat requires that the player connects attacks to inflict damage with the adversaries effectively. These sequences of attacks are carried out while pressing on buttons of the lever in a synchronized way, in a manner which points out the plays of rate/rhythm.
