Vadym To mix

Vadym Meller (or Vadim To mix , 1884-1962) was a Russian painter, a Artiste of avant-garde (cubist, constructivist), a theatrical originator and an architect.

Biography

Vadym Meller was born with Saint-Petersbourg. It was the second wire of a senior official of the ministry for the justice of the Russian empire. His/her father was a noble Swede and his/her mother, half-Italian, half-Greek, were also of a noble family.

After having obtained a diploma of right of the University of Kiev, it received an artistic education with the academy of the fine arts of Munich.

It in close contact with the group Der Blaue Reiter. There, it met Wassily Kandinsky, which became his/her friend. Vadym Muller started to expose its work after it moved with Paris, where it joined the Société of the independent artists. He was also a pupil of Antoine Bourdelle.

In 1912-1914, like Kazimir Malevich, Sonia Delaunay, Alexandre Archipenko, and Alexandra Exter, it took part in the exposures: Living room of Independent the, living room of spring, and living room of Fall at the sides of Pablo Picasso, Georges Directs and André Derain.

After its return to Kiev in 1917, he worked with the support and monumental painting, the graphic design, and the design of costume.

Its passage to scenography, as principal field of its artistic activity took place in the first years post-revolutionists.

From 1919 to 1920, he worked with the dancer Bronislava Nijinska (sister of Vaslav Nijinsky) in his studio of ballet dancing.

In 1922, Kurbas invited Vadim Meller with the theater with Berezil lately created.

In 1925, Vadym Meller took part in the International exhibition of Decorative and industrial Arts modern (Art déco) to Paris where it obtained a gold medal for the interior design of the theater of Berezil.

Vadym Meller went well to the chief of constructivism in the Ukrainian design of theater. He worked there as an artist as a chief up to 1945.

From 1925, he also taught with the academy of art of Kiev, like Vladimir Tatline and Alexandre Bogomazov.

The same year, he became the member of the union of the association of artists of the revolutionary Masters of the Ukraine like David Burliuk (cofounder), Alexandre Bogomazov (cofounder), Vasiliy Yermilov, Victor Palmov and Khvostenko-Khvostov.

Vadym Meller functioned as a temporary director of the monumental institute of painting and sculpture of the academy of the architecture of the Ukrainian SR (1946-1948), an artist as a chief of the comedy Theater (1948 - 1953) of music of Kiev and an artist as a chief of the theater of academic of Iv. Franko Kiev (1953-1959).

It was married with Nina Genke-To mix.

Vadym Meller died in Kiev.
