VSD (magazine)
VSD is a Magazine general practitioner of topicality and leisures weekly magazine, published in France in the beginning every Thursday and from now on each Wednesday. The name comes from the abbreviation of V endredi- S amedi- D imanche. It is indexed by the Office of justification of the diffusion (OJD) like belonging to the category “Presse people”.
History
The title was launched the September 9th 1977 by Maurice Siegel, ex-director of Europe 1. After the death of Maurice Siegel in 1985, the magazine is taken again by its sons, François and Jean-Dominique. In August 1995, VSD files for bankruptcy and ceases appearing. It reappears in June 1996 after the repurchase by the group Prisma Presse (140 million F).VSD knew its hour of glory in the Eighties by making the good share with the Photojournalisme and the Paparazzi, the muscular investigations and the female models slightly vêtus, but also with the mechanical sports, covering in particular the rally Paris-Dakar. One of the journalists of the magazine, Nathaly Odent, dies besides in the accident of helicopter in which are killed Thierry Sabine and Daniel Balavoine in 1986. At that time, the weekly magazine reaches the 400.000 specimens and its main competitors are Paris Match and Newlook .
