Vítězslav Nezval
Vítězslav Nezval (May 26th 1900, Biskoupky close to Brno - April 6th 1958, Prague) is a poet, a writer and a Czech translator. He is the cofounder of the Poétisme promoted by him within the framework of the artistic movement Devětsil.
Nezval is a key figure of the Czechoslovakian Surréalisme, decorated with the gold medal of the Order world of peace and appointed national artist in 1953.
With Jindřich Štyrský, Karel Teige and Toyen, it founds the group Surréaliste praguois in 1934. It already broke for a long time with official poetry by creating the “poetism”, preaching the morals of the pleasure, the invention and modernity. It will end up joining the official Intelligentsia Czechoslovakian Communist party.
