Vértesszőlős is a village located in the department of Komárom-Esztergom, with an about sixty kilometers in the North-West of Budapest, in Hungary. In 2004, it counted a population of 2775 inhabitants for a surface of 17,12 km ².
The archaeological vestiges are included in loess like sands subjacent with the travertines gone back to 350.000 years BP by the method of the uranium-thorium. The archaeological levels rest on other sand levels gone back to 700.000 years BP by the method of thermoluminescence.
The site delivered two teeth déciduales and a occipital Os of adult initially allotted to Homo erectus . The progressive characters observed on the occipital one resulted in seeing there a form of transition between Homo erectus and Homo sapiens .
The site is also known to have delivered the hearths among oldest known to date.
A museum of outdoor open to the visit was arranged on the site.
