Vémars is a commune of the Val-d'Oise located in flat of France, to approximately 30 km in the North-East of Paris and with 6km of the Aéroport Roissy-Charles-of-Gaulle.
Its inhabitants is Vémarois (be).
Geography
The commune, Eastern of the department to the borders of the Oise and the Seine-et-Marne, is bordering on Saint-Witz, Plailly (Oise), Moussy-le-Neuf (Seine-et-Marne), Mauregard (Seine-et-Marne), Épiais-the-Louvres, Chennevières-the-Louvres and Villeron.
History
Perhaps the name of Vémars comes from Latin vetus , old man and mansum , rural field or " vetere mansio" , old woman remains.
The occupation of the territory as of the Préhistoire is attested by the Neolithic discovery of traces of habitats S and of houses Gallic be. The castle of the Mound, current town hall, was the property of François Mauriac. It had made many stays in the village since its marriage in 1913, at 28 years, with Jeanne Lafon, downward of a family established for a long time in Vémars. The house of Vémars is used as a basis for its action of propaganda against the occupant Nazi starting from 1940. François Mauriac drew his inspiration with Vémars only for two novels: the dead Parish and the River of fire . The writer is buried at the sides of his wife to the cemetery of the village.
Crossed by the line at Northern high speed (where it is joined by LGV Interconnexion Is) and the highway of North, an area service is located on the territory of the commune and bears its name. The Restaurant of highway is the first of the kind built in France.

Monuments and places of visit
the church Saint-Pierre-and-Saint-Paul was built as from the 16th century. The square bell-tower-turn with buttresses of angle, imposing, would go back to first half of the 17th century. With the top of the gate of entry Rebirth in handle of surbased arch basket, a niche shelters a copy of the statue of Saint-Paul dating from the end of the 15th century. The original is preserved in town hall.
The hotel-of-city is installed in the castle of the Mound , acquired by François Mauriac in 1951. A small museum is devoted to the author.

the Choisy-with-Ox farm belonged to the Cistercian abbey of Chaalis. There remains barn of the 13th century only the northern wall-pinion.
