Vélizy 2

Vélizy 2 is a regional Shopping mall French located on the common of Vélizy-Villacoublay, with the limit of the departments of the Yvelines, the Hauts-de-Seine and the the Essonne.

This center attracts increasingly important customers, recovering a broad basin of population. It is served by the A86, the N118, of the lines of bus (the RATP, Veolia Transport, etc). Future the Châtillon Line - Viroflay of the Parisian tram will serve it from here end 2010. The center is managed by Rodamco

History

  • 1972 : Vélizy 2 opens its doors and fact appears of pioneer per hour when France discovers the shopping malls. Among its signs, Spring, Samaritaine and very first C&A of France are adventure. With 98.000 m ², Vélizy 2 is then the greatest center of Europe.
  • 1981 : In the forefront of the innovation, Vélizy 2 takes part in the birth of great projects, by accommodating the launching of the station radio RFM or the creation of the future Minitel.
  • 1986 : Auchan joined Vélizy 2, substitute Samaritaine. Vélizy 2 then increases its capacity of reception of 5500 free parking spaces.
  • 2000 : The carpark increases of 2.000 additional places thus carrying its capacity of parking in 7500 places, to adapt to the customers.
  • 2004 : Extremely of 180 trade, of which the first Hypermarket Auchan de France and of the prestigious signs (Spring, the Fnac, Darty, H&M, C&A, Toys " R" Custom) Vélizy 2 receives 60.000 visitors per day, 18 million per annum. It is today the 1st shopping mall of France in turnover and 2nd in Europe.
  • 2005 : Like many shopping malls built in the Years 1970, Vélizy 2 launches out in great renovation works with for strong point the installation of a new ceiling more in height and with glazed openings which bring natural light. Selected decoration is inspired by the topic of nature.
  • 2007 : Renovation works were completed, leaving room to the light. Moreover, work of enlarging of the carpark began and will finish in the current 2008, like those of the restoration of the hypermarket Auchan.

  • the Turnover of the Hypermarché Auchan in Vélizy 2 is of 336,3 million euros in 2006, which makes of it the largest hypermarket of France and the second of Europe; work of extension currently in hand will make pass its sales area from 16.200 to 19.700 m ² from here to 2008, making of this department store of the chain in France.
