Vélizy-Villacoublay
Vélizy-Villacoublay is a common department of the Yvelines, in the area Île-de-France, in France, located at 3 km in the east of Versailles.
Its inhabitants is called the Véliziens .
Geography
Established on a plate dominating Paris, the commune of Vélizy-Villacoublay is bordering on Meudon in the North-East, of Clamart in the east, Bièvres in the south-south-east, Jouy-in-Josas in south-west, Versailles in the west, Viroflay in the North-West and Chaville in north.It is a very urbanized commune, in edge of the Forêt of Meudon which recovers more than 300 hectares of the communal territory.
There are six districts of dwelling: Mozart, the Field, the Email, Louvois, the Western Point and Vélizy-le-Bas (with Ursine and the Scrap-metal).
The city is served by the A86, RN118 and RN286
On the level of public transport, it is served by the RER C (station of Chaville - Vélizy), by the buses of Veolia Transport (Connex), of the RATP and by the T8 starting from end 2010.
History
The name of Villacoublay would be derived from the Latin word villa . Villacoublay is made of the Latin word villa and a Gallo-Roman patronym, Escoblenus .
- Territory made of three distinct seigniories, Vélizy, Villacoublay and Ursine, mentioned as from the 11th century.

These fields entered the royal field gradually as from the 17th century and at the end of 18th for that of Vélizy.
