Vättern

The Lake Vättern , located at the center of the southernmost Sweden, is the second Lac of Sweden in surface, after the lake Vänern and the sixth lake of Europe. Its surface and of 1  893 km ², it occupy a volume of 77,6 km ³, his average depth of 41 m and his more great depth of 128 Mr. the lake is long 120 km and broad of approximately 30 km.

The lake is at an altitude of 88,5 m and flows by the Motala Ström which throws in the the Baltic with Norrköping to approximately 120 km of the lake. The lake Vättern is connected to the lake Vänern and the Baltic by the channel Göta kanal.

On southern bank the town of Jönköping is. On bank is the town of Vadstena, town of Sainte Brigitte. In the center of the lake, one finds the island of Visingsö.

Each year, in the month of June, a cycle race is organized, which makes the turn of the lake, (either 300 km). The race starts with Motala.
