Västerås is the fifth agglomeration (102  548 inhabitants) of Sweden. It is located in the province of Västmanland and in the Comté of Västmanland, of which it is the chief town, on northern bank of the Lac Mälar. It is also chief town of the Commune of Västerås (132  000 inhabitants).

It is at the time of a Riksdag (word Swedish meaning Réunion of the General states ), under Gustave Ier Vasa, in 1527, which was decided the Réforme in Sweden.

It is an industrial town.
