Vâghelâ

The Vâghelâ - also called Bâghelâ or Vyâgrapatti - are a dynasty Hindu reigning on the peninsula of Kâthiawâr to the Goujerat during the 13th century.

Vâghelâ were vassal Solankî based in the town of Dholka. When Solankî enter declining, towards 1243, their Lavanaprâsada minister seizes the capacity and installs its dynasty. Vâghelâ bring back stability to Goujerat for second half of XIIIe century and its Râja S and its civils servant protects arts. Thus Vîrama ( Vîradhavala ) and two of its ministers, Vastupal and Tejpar, is at the origin of the temples of Dilwara of the Mont Âbû with the the Rajasthan and those of Girnâr. Its successor and brother Vishâldeva are at the origin of the temples of Dabhoi and the town of Vishalnagar. Karnâdeva , the last râja Vâghelâ, sudden in 1297 attacks of Alâ ud-DIN Khaljî which makes the conquest of Goujerat and puts an end to the Hindu capacity in the area.

The râja Vâghelâ according to the tradition

  • Vîrama ( Vîradhavala ), died towards 1243, puts an end to the Solankî capacity in 1232,
  • Vishâldeva , his/her brother, demolishes the Yâdava,
  • Arjuna , its nephew,
  • Sârangadeva , his/her son,
  • Karnâdeva , nephew of Sârangadeva, reigns of 1296 with 1304.
