Uzemain

Uzemain is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called Manuziens.

Geography

Uzemain is a rural village of the heart of the Vôge, located at 15 km in the south-west of Épinal, in the valley of the Coney. It is bordered in the west by the Canal of the East and in the south by the path GR. 7 of great excursion. The habitat disperses in several hamlets: Thièlouze, Méloménil, Naymont, Xatte, Roulon, Forging mills of Uzemain.

History

Before the Revolution, the sector was composed of hamlets depending on various and variable communities, Darney, Arches, Girancourt or Remiremont.

In 1790, two distinct communes were formed within the canton of Xertigny: Uzemain them Forging mills and Uzemain it Street . They were joined together by royal decree on May 20th 1839 with like chief town Uzemain-the-Street, become since Uzemain.
