Uwe Hohn (born the July 16th 1962 with Rheinsberg, Land of Brandebourg) is a German athlete . He entered the history of the sport to have been the first with to launch the javelin to more 100 meters.
At the time of the Olympic day of the July 20th 1984 in the Stage Jahnstadion with Berlin, it carried out a throw with 104,80 meters. These world records gave place to a change of the rules. Indeed, for safety reasons, the International Association off Athletics Federations (IAAF) decided into 1986 to modify the center of gravity of the javelins of competition, so that the javelins had a trajectory with peak more and thus fell more quickly on the ground. The statistics of the records were thus given to zero and the performance of Uwe Hohn became thus “world records eternal”. However, the Czech Jan Železný makes a success of in May 1996 a throw with 98,48 meters, approaching the mark of Hohn again.
Because of the boycott of GDR, Uwe Hohn could not take part in the Olympic Games in this year of world records in 1984. In 1986, Uwe Hohn finished its sporting career after several reverses following an operation. He worked initially as trainer-assistant. Insofar as these physical problems continued to worsen, it touched a time a disablement pension. Since 1999, he is honorary trainer of the SC Potsdam, club resulting from the ASK Vorwärts Potsdam, and of which he was laid off time of his career.
Uwe Hohn is married since 1983 and has a girl (born in 1985) and a son (born in 1989).
With a size of 1,98 m, it posted a weight of 112 kg at the time of the competitions.
