The Uusimaa , Nyland in Swedish, (“New Country”) is the the most populated area Finland. Located along the Golfe of Finland, it is in this area which one finds the capital Helsinki ansi that the towns of Espoo and Vantaa. Uusimaa belongs to the province of southernmost Finland.

Geography

The area corresponds to the Western part of the old province of Uusimaa. it is bordered in the west by the Finland of South-west, in the east by the Uusimaa of the East and in North by the Kanta-Häme and the Päijät-Häme.

Communes

Uusimaa comprises 24 communes. The 12 cities are marked in fat. The first name is the name corresponding to the language mainly spoken in the commune, that is to say the Swedish for Ekenäs, Karis and Ingå, and the Finnois for the others (2nd name in the other language if there exists).
