Uttar Pradesh
The Uttar Pradesh (Hindi: उत्तरप्रदेश , Urdu: اترپردیش ) is a State located at the North-East of the India.
History
Geography
Uttar Pradesh is bordered in north by the Nepal and the Uttaranchal, in the west by the Himachal Pradesh, the Haryana, the the Rajasthan and Delhi, in the east by the Bihar, in the south by the Madhya Pradesh and the Chhattisgarh.
It is crossed of West in Is by the Gange, like by one of its affluents, the Yamuna.
Principal cities: Vârânasî (old Bénarès), Lakhnau (the capital), Allâhâbâd, Jhansi, Kanpur, Mathura, Meerut, Agra.
Policy
Uttar Pradesh is a State politically extremely significant.
The chief of the executive (Chief Minister), since August 29th, 2003, is Mulayam Singh Yadav, leader of the Samajwadi Party, left primarily established in the State, and the governor is Vishnu Kant Shastri.
The party of without caste (Untouchable S), the Bahujan Samaj Party, is mainly established in Uttar Pradesh.
The legislative Parliament includes/understands 403 members of Parliament.
The dynasty of the Jawaharlal Nehru - Gandhi, represented today by Rahul Gandhi is established electorally in Uttar Pradesh, as well as the preceding Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee.
In December 1992, destruction of the mosque of Ayodhya, caused by the Hindu nationalists (BJP, RSS), because of important waves of violences between Hindus and Moslems in all the country, the promulgation of the state of emergency in Uttar Pradesh and the dismissal of the local government (BJP).

Uttar Pradesh is the State more populated of India. Only the China, the India itself, the the United States, the Indonesia, and the Brésil have a population more important than Uttar Pradesh.
Nearly 20% of the population is Musulmane.

Tourism
Uttar Pradesh is the tourist State. It includes/understands in particular the towns of Agra, the city of the Taj Mahal, the Mausolée of Itimâd-ud-Daulâ, Vârânasî, Sârnâth.
Others
In 2001, three new States were create in India, of which the Uttarakhand, small State on the Himalayan edge, which made until there part of Uttar Pradesh.
