Utsjoki

Utsjoki (in Same of North Ohcejohka , in Same d' Inari Uccjuuhâ , in Same Skolt Uccjokk ) is the the most septentrional municipality of Finland, only entirely in the north of the parallel 69e . It is moreover the only commune for which the Langues SAMES are majority.

Geography

The commune is bordered in the south by the commune of Inari, and in north by the river Teno which is used as border with the Norwegian Finnmark (3 border posts are located on the commune). The essence of the commune makes up of wild zones in edge of the plate of Finnmark in which the only possible activity is the extensive breeding Renne S. the thin population concentrates primarily in the 8 hamlets, the principal ones being Utsjoki-church (1267 km of Helsinki, 453 km of Rovaniemi), Nuorgam (not more in north of the European Union) and Karigasniemi. No the national park but an protected area, the Natural park and the canyon of Kevo, one of the most wild areas of Lapland whose attraction takes part in the development of tourism in the commune. This one remains nevertheless still marginal compared to the areas of Rovaniemi or Kittilä.

The valley of Utsjoki, surrounding a small affluent of Teno, is classified national landscape of Finland like 26 other remarkable sites.
