Useldange

The locality

Useldange is a locality Luxembourg eoise and chief town of the commune bearing the same name.

It is located on both sides river Attert.

It is connected to the highway network by the trunk roads N24 and N22 and the CR305.

Formerly Useldange was also served by a railway line removed iron in 1967, the Ligne of Attert.

One finds there a small aerodrome for gliding.

On a projecting rock in the middle of the village draw up the ruins of a feudal castle.

History

Armorial bearings

The commune of Useldange receives its armorial bearings dated December 4th, 1986

The horizontal bars come from the armorial bearings of the Lords from Esch-on-Sure who were also the Lords of Useldange.

The cross is derived from the armorial bearings of the Lords of Septfontaines who had the village of Rippweiler.

It symbolizes also the village of Schandel which belonged to him with the lords of Sterpenich, and later with the Lords of Hondelange who had also a cross with a head of dog in their blazon.
