Urgyen Tsomo
Urgyen Tsomo , Orgyen Tsomo or Khandro Urgyen Tsomo (1897? -?), Large Dakini of Tsourphou, was the wife of the 15th Karmapa.
15th Karmapa, Khakyab Dorje (1871-1922), was the first of the line to be married, informed by dreams which it was to take for wife an emanation of Yogini Yeshe Tsogyal to prolong its life. The emanation visualized in its dreams was Urgyen Tsomo, born in a family living close to Tsourphou. When it was found, it was sixteen years old. Equipped with spontaneous realization, it achieves the practice of purification of Dorje Namdjoma for Karmapa which was at this time very seriously sick, and could prolong its life during nine years. They had three wire, of which the 2nd Jamgon Kongtrul Rinpoché and the 12th Shamar Rinpoché, Jamyang Rinpoché.
After the disappearance of 15th Karmapa, Urgyen Tsomo remained in retirement with the Monastery of Tsourphou and taught the Dharma there. It became famous and was called Large Khandro (or Dakini) of Tsourphou.
Khandro Rinpoché (Khandro Tsering Paldron) was recognized by 16th Karmapa like its reincarnation.
