The Urban community of Strasbourg , usually called CUS , is a French inter-commune structure , located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace.
History
Since 1967, Strasbourg is the center of a Urban community.Since 1972, the services of the administration of the Town of Strasbourg and CUS are gathered in a single administration whose manpower rise in 2002 with 7 090 agents.
Population
The CUS counted 452.609 inhabitants with the census of 1999. With the last estimates of 2004, Strasbourg only counted with it 272.800 inhabitants.

Eurodistrict
The first bases of a European district (Eurodistrict), which could in the long term lead to a common administration concerning the 860.000 residents of the Urban community of Strasbourg and the Ortenau, were installation in October 2005 in the form reduced of an agreement to coordinate and set up joint projects (transport, town planning, education, health, administrative formalities…).
