Obersaasheim is a common French, located in the department of the Haut-Rhin and the area Alsace.
Geography
History
Cité in 768 under the name of Saxones (German Saxen), which indicates a foundation of the Saxon colonists (off-set by Charlemagne?). The abbey of Munster consequently holds there goods which it will preserve until 1789. Obersaasheim belonged to the Middle Ages in Habsbourg which inféodèrent it in Andlau. The name of the village became Sachsen in 1316, Sachseim in 1517 and Sassenheim in 1576. In 1302 for the first time a church is mentioned. The parish is founded in 1316 and enters the rural chapter of évêché of Basle in 1317. The village is destroyed partly at the time of war the thirty year old and it is finally into 1683 that Obersaasheim is set up in autonomous parish. Between 1772 and 1777, a presbytery and a church are built: St Gall becomes owner of the parish. From 1835 to 1838, construction of the town hall and elementary school. At the beginning of the 2nd world war the inhabitants of the village are evacuated in the Lot-et-Garonne and it is between the 2 and on February 6th, 1945 that the commune is released.
