The Boulevard Unter den Linden ( boulevard under the limes ) with Berlin belongs to the most known places in the world. It extends from the Pariser Platz (east coast of the Porte of Brandebourg) on 1,5 km in direction of the west until Schlossbrücke. This road axis of obvious importance in the center of Berlin connects many institutions as well as a big number of Berliner curiosities. As one can await it from a so famous boulevard, its history was animated.
At the 16th century, this axis was yet only one vulgar dirt track beaten which was traced in 1573 on order of the prince-voter Johann Georg . It then connected the Berliner Stadtschloss to the Tiergarten.
After the War Thirty Year old, whereas Germany suffered from the continuations of the war and that as well the castle as Tiergarten were devastated, Frederic-Guillaume started to trace new alleys and to plant new gardens. He sent his architects and gardeners through Europe to collect new ideas and to rebuild the center of Berlin. Thereafter, the alley was built in a Dutch style according to the plans of the prince Johann Moritz and the way of hunting was to be transformed into an impressive gallery comprising 1000 Noyer S and 1000 Tilleul S.
The Column of the Victoire was placed on this prolongation (which does not bear the name of Unter den Linden but of Straße of the 17. Juni ), in the past located opposite the Reichstag.
