Unpleasant Raoul (1885 - 1936), member of the League of the young friends of Alsace-Lorraine , grouping of nationalist students, assassinates by two balls in the head Jean Jaurès with the Coffee of the Crescent, 146 rue Montmartre with Paris (2nd), on Friday, July 31 1914 with 21:40.
This assassination takes place three days before the beginning of the First World War, and the release of the hostilities precipitates some, in particular by facilitating the rallying of the left, including much of Socialists who hesitated, to the “Sacred union”.
