Unna (district)

Geographical location

The district of Unna ( Kreis Unna ) is located at the east of the area of the Ruhr between the towns of Hagen, Dortmund and Hamm. It still has limits with the district of Mark, Soest, Coesfeld and Recklinghausen.

History

The district was created on January 1st, 1975 by law of July 9th, 1974 by gathering the communes of the old of the same district name which had not intégréés at the cities close with the city-district to Lünen and the towns of Schwerte (anc. arr. of Iserlohn), Selm and Werne (anc. arr. of Lüdinghausen).
