University of the Saar
L'University of Sarre (in summary: UdS) was founded in 1948 in the town of Hombourg by the French authorities which managed the territory then and it depended at the beginning on the University on Nancy.
The current University is a Campus located at Saarbrucken, in the buildings of an old barracks (but the old aspect is seen less and less) and in Homburg. It counts approximately 15.500 students, including approximately 17 percent from abroad. The semi-annual contribution (in 2006) rises with 127,00 €, but it makes it possible to use free the whole of the public means of transport in all the Land. As from the six-month period of winter 2007/2008 the contribution will be carried to 300 € for two first half of the year and to 500 € for the following. The University employs approximately 2.000 people including 15 percent of teachers.
One does not know enough in France that the University of the Saar has the right to deliver French diplomas of right, modern letters (with option German) and of German. It is thus possible, for example, to prepare a German license under exceptionally favorable conditions (in particular the restricted number of students).
All the information will be obtained (in French).
