University of the Mutants

the University of the Mutants is an international center of meetings and conferences located on the island of Gorée (Senegal), vis-a-vis the fort of Estrées which shelters the historical Musée of Senegal.

History

The institution was founded on the initiative of Léopold Sédar Senghor and the writer and philosopher French Roger Garaudy.

In fact it opened its doors on January 6th 1979 with a support of UNESCO and Programme of the United Nations for the development (UNDP) in complement of the initial contribution of the State of Senegal and the Agence of cultural and technical assistance (ACCT), but its creation was officialized by law 81-03 of February 2nd 1981.

Administration

It is a public corporation related to administration. Placed under the supervision of the Ministry in charge of the Culture, it is equipped with a Board of directors, a Managing director (currently Massaer Diallo) and with an international Scientific advice.

Objectives and activities

Its mission is “to outline the evolution which humanity in change should follow to ensure all the men the wellbeing and peace”.

Conferences, seminars and days of study are organized there and, each year, from tens of decision makers come there from many countries to exchange their experiment and to contribute to this mission.
