The university of technology in sciences of the organizations and the decision of Paris-Dauphine (in the past: Paris-IX university), or the university Paris-Dauphine , in “Dauphine” summary, is a French university founded on January 1st, 1971 and directed towards the Social sciences, in particular the economy and management, specialized in sciences of Gestion. It draws its name from the Dauphine Porte, in the 16 {{E}} district of Paris where the building is located. Since February 2004, the statute of Grand establishment applies to the Paris-Dauphine university.

History

The Dauphine University center, having statute of faculty, was created by decree of October 24th, 1968 in the old buildings of NATO. This establishment became on January 1st, 1971 the university Paris IX and profited as of its creation from a broad autonomy as regards teaching innovation .

The University Paris-Dauphine quickly acquired a notoriety in the field of sciences of management by opening its third cycles with the graduates of the universities of Engineer and trade. The selection of the candidates applied to the entry was the object of legal conflicts since its creation. Each year, the establishment receives 6.000 requests for only 650 places in first year. For Masters the most required, in finance or marketing, the selection is about 10 candidates for a place.

In accordance with the project approved by the board of directors of the university, Dauphine obtained in February 2004 the statute of Grand establishment.

According to the annual classification 2007 of the universities in the world established by the University Jiao Tong of Shanghai, the University Paris-Dauphine is classified among the 300 first. The University Paris-Dauphine counts among its professors Pierre-Louis Lions who obtained the Médaille Fields in 1994. In addition, it takes part in the program Goldman Sachs Global Leaders .

Paris-Dauphine owes to some extent its fame with its associated professors and professors who intervene regularly in the media like Jean-Marie Chevalier and Philippe Chalmin (Center of Geopolitics of the Energy and the Raw materials of Dauphine, CGEMP), Elie Cohen, André Levy-Lang (former president of Paribas), Jacques Delors (former president of the European commission), Jean-Herve Lorenzi (president of the Cercle of the economists), Christian Stoffaës (directing of the International Futurology of EDF),…

Co-operations

The Paris-Dauphine university belongs to the 11 preparation centres to the external contest of officially agreed ÉNA by the school (“Prep' ÉNA”) and proposes Master in co-operation with the School.

In July 2005, Dauphine signed the convention Alliance Paris Universitas which include/understand EHESS, ENS Ulm, the university of the Sorbonne Nouvelle and the Université Pierre-and-Marie-Curie intended to improve notoriety of these establishments to conclude from the partnerships abroad and to improve visibilté to them in the international classifications.

  • " The majeurs" risks; in partnership with the Polytechnic school and ENSAE coordinated by Jean-Herve Lorenzi, financed by AXA

  • " The santé" risk; in partnership with the Polytechnic school, coordinated by Claude Le Pen, financed by AGF

Presidents

The President of the University is elected by the 3 central Councils: Board of directors, the Council of the Studies and the University Life and Scientific advice. Its mandate is 5 years, nonrenewable immediately.

Events

The Entretiens of Dauphine are meetings with the chairmen of great groups, animated by Dauphine professors and opened to the students. Student's association Dauphine Discussion Debate (DDD) receives political officials for its part.

The university organizes each year, since 1996, in radio or December the Prix Dauphine-Henri Tezenas of Montcel which rewards the best television programs dedicated to the economy, the company and the social one. It also decrees a Dolphin of Gold to the best audio-visual economic journalist of the year (Jean-Marc Sylvestre in 2006) the price is given by a personality, like Jacques Chirac (1997), Jacques Delors (1999), Valery Giscard d'Estaing (2003) or Jean Boissonnat (2006). The communication of the edition of the tenth birthday, in 2006, was in particular controlled by Master 248.

The Dauphine Forum Companies organized each year since 1983 makes it possible the companies to recruit students on the campus.

The Dauphine Nuit organized the every years mid-November by BdE is the greatest evening coed organized except campus of France.

The Festival Music to Rock the Nation organized by the Oreille the every years in May is one of the greatest festivals studying of intramural Paris. Joining together more than 2500 people and 150 artists, this festival makes it possible groups little known to occur in front of an important public and to support a humane cause, for which the entirety of the benefit are transferred.

The Dauphine Jazz Festival, also organized by the Ear , in November, accommodates artists of jazz of quality, proposing the diversity of the styles of jazz.

Magistères

Magistère BFA
The Magistère Banks Finance Insurance (Magistère BFA), created in 1986, is a 3 years formation which leads to a diploma of 3rd cycle in the field of the trades of the bank, finance and the insurance. The selection is done, after a DEUG (Economic scenes or M.A.S.S.) on file and talks. Teaching relates to the fundamental economic mechanisms as well as the financial techniques currently used.

The course comprises a training course from 2 to 3 months the pemière year, from 3 to 4 the second and 6 months or more the last. Training courses carried out either in the financial sector, or in the finance departments of the companies. The students also have opportunity of going to follow a course abroad. It was classified first specialized training BAC+5 in 2007 in Bank-Finance and insurance (Classification SMBG).

Magistère of Sciences of Management
The Magistère of Sciences of Management is a formation general practitioner in 3 years created in 1985 to compete with the universities of trade. Its lesson has a strong component economy-accountancy-management of company with an opening on the international businesses (English/Spanish obligatory) and an exchange in a foreign university in 3rd year (the United States, Russia, Brésil,…). Magistère recruits each year about thirty students on file followed by an examination

The Department of further education (EPD) delivers a License, two Masters and account five MBA, including three in co-operations:

Documentation

The common Service of documentation (SCD), located on the 6th floor, is divided into a library of study and a library of research. The SCD includes/understands approximately: 130000 pounds, of which the half in libr access. It places at the disposal of the students approximately 200 reviews paper in 700 and study hall, in room of research, but gives access more than 8000 electronic periodicals.

The SCD of the establishment is recognized like Center of acquisition and scientific and technical information circulation for the economy and management. It is assi pole associated with the National library of France under the documentary division.

AssIDu (Associations Independent of Dauphine) is an association and one of the principal lists of student elected officials of the University Paris-Dauphine. It federates part of associations of dies as well as a certain number of associations general practitioners. Based at the end of 1992 on a principle of independence " policy, financial and confessionnelle" , association aimed at offering an alternative to the traditional national unions (UNEF-ID and LINKED and supporter of corporatism " lists it; the Musketeers ") at the time of the elections of January 1993.
