University of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines

The university of Versailles-Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines (UVSQ) is a recent university French established in the department of the Yvelines and since 2002 in the Hauts-de-Seine.

It accommodates approximately: 17000 students and employs approximately: 1400 people including 950 teachers. : 1200 speakers come to enrich each year exempted teaching.

In order to reinforce its international visibility and to gather its means of research and teaching, the UVSQ is one of the founding members, with the university Université Paris XI and the National university of Cachan, of the Pôle of research and higher education UniverSud Paris.

History

July 22nd 1991: creation of the University of Versailles - Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines (UVSQ) starting from two delocalized centers of the University of Paris VI and Paris X
1996: the UVSQ from now on is equipped with structures and authorities.
2001 : creation of the Mantes-the-Pretty IUT of
2002: opening of the professional arts (IUP), sciences, culture and multi-media Academic institute, attached to the UFR of sciences
2002: creation of a UFR of medicine to Garches (Hauts-de-Seine)
2006: creation of CFA of Alembert with Guyancourt
2007: removal of the UFR of medicine Paris Western Ile-de-France (PIFO) in Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines.

Science S located at Versailles and Chesnay.

It accommodates the formations in Biologie, Sciences of the Earth and the Universe, Physique, Chimie, Mathématiques, Informatique as well as the Academic institute professionnalized, IUP ASCM (art, sciences, culture and multi-media).

HS : Social sciences and humanities located at Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines.
SJP : Legal sciences and policies located at Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines.
PIFO : “Paris-Island-of-France-West” (Medicine) located at Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines.

The school of engineer - ISTY

Created in 1992, the Institute of sciences and technology of Yvelines (ISTY) are a school of engineer who delivers specialized diplomas for the occupation of engineer entitled by the Commission of the titles of engineer (CTI).

The formation is broken up into:

integrated preparatory cycle: a 2 years cycle;
data-processing die, located at Versailles: it trains engineers specialized in data processing in three years;
mecatronic die, located at Mantes-the-City: it forms in alternation by the training of the engineers specialized in systems integration mechanics, electronic and data-processing.

The Training center of apprentices - CFA of Alembert

CFA of Alembert was created in 2006 by the UVSQ and the Chamber of commerce and of industry of Versailles-Valley-in Oise-Yvelines, (CCIV). It is located at Guyancourt, commune of the community of agglomeration of Saint-Quentin-in-Yvelines.
