In the beginning, only four faculties existed: But with time, others were created:

Library of the university

The library of the university counts approximately 5,25 million books and periodicals (: 131293 meters of shelves): 61959 manuscripts: 7133 partitions of music, and: 345734 graphic charts and other documents. The reserves of the collection of manuscripts and music shelter in particular the manuscript of the Bible Gotique (Codex Argenteus) and the oldest manuscript of the Edda de Snorri (Upsaliensis Codex).

The most remarkable building of the College library is Carolina Rediviva, the “Carolina revived”, thus named in reference to the Academia Carolina , which sheltered the library of the university until in 1691, date on which it was transferred on the most floor from Gustavianum, where it escaped the large fire miraculeusement from the city in 1702. In the middle of the 18th century century, there were projects to bring back it to Academia Carolina. The building was demolished in 1778 to leave the place to a new library, but it was never rebuilt, and the old site, beside the cathedral, is occupied today by a lawn. Carolina Rediviva current was built elsewhere and completed in 1841.

The current college library includes/understands 19 sections, of which that of the Carolina building.
