University of Trieste

The Université of Trieste (in Italian, Università degli studi di Trieste ) is a Université Italy, whose seat is with Trieste.

During the academic year 2000/2001, it included/understood twelve faculties with approximately 27.000 students.

The core originating in the university is represented by the National college of business, Fondation Revoltella, created like a foundation deprived in 1877 to feed the dominant professional requirements (trade, ocean freight). As soon as Trieste becomes Italian, by decree of the police chief of September 14th 1919, while adding one to it 3rd year of course, the Italian State made it equal to the other Institutes of higher learning of trade while the royal decree of the November 7th 1920 making it become an autonomous public corporation. March 1st 1921, the director became about it the historian of the economy Gino Luzzatto which the eminent lawyer Alberto Asquini succeeded who was going to become the first university vice-chancellor about it. By royal decree of the August 8th 1924 (n° 1388), it became Université of the economic studies and commercial (with one 4th year of studies).
