History

The university of Poitiers is one of oldest of France. She founded in 1431 and was wanted by the king Charles VII to reward the fidelity which the Poitou had always shown him. The university of Poitiers also includes/understands two IUT and four other institutes. For the research, the university of Poitiers lays out of four doctoral schools:

• Engineering chemical, biological and geological
• Legal sciences
• Social sciences and social.

It manages, either only, or jointly with scientific and technological establishments, 50 research laboratories.
