University of Pau and the Countries of Adour

The University of Pau and the Countries of Adour (UPPA) is an establishment higher French multisite, based than Pau (Yrénées-Atlantiques) but also than Bayonne, Tarbes and Mount-with-Marsan in the Basin of the Adour. It is the university third pole (12 000 students and 19.000 for the town of Pau) of the great South-west after those of Bordeaux and Toulouse.

The University of Pau and the Countries of Adour belongs to the Pyrenees Océanes Campus which federates the Groupe ESC Pau, 5 schools of engineers (ENIT, ENSGTI, EISTI, ESTIA, ISA BTP) and the Institut of Administration of Company (IAE), is 17.000 students. The Pyrenees Océanes Campus take a European dimension and will integrate soon the University of Aragon, the University of Pampelune and several Spanish business schools and of engineer. The presidency is taken by Philippe Lafontaine, director of the Groupe ESC Pau.

Description

Pau

The site of Pau is largest. It accommodates approximately 9000 étudiants.
There are three UFR:
  • Letters;
  • Right, economy and management: created in 1947 on the initiative of the Poplawski Senior and the Vizioz Senior. At the time, the buildings were in the Villa Lawrence.
  • Sciences and technology.
and a IUT, a Institute of administration of the companies (IAE) and the 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure in genius of industrial technologies.

The NAILS of Pau is located close to the Northern entry, as well as the residence halls.
Il is possible to be restored with the University canteen Southern Cape where the chain of restoration for the personnel the Oasis is located, with the brewery the wave or with the Cafeteria the Harlequin.

Bayonne

The site of Bayonne accommodates 2500 students in 2 UFR (sciences and multi-field) and a IUT.

Tarbes

The site of Tarbes with 700 students, proposes 2 UFR of letters and sciences.

Attention the university field of tarbes is rataché to the UPS of Toulouse and not to the UPPA

Mount-of-Marsan

The site of Mount-with-Marsan accommodates 300 students in a UFR of right and a IUT.

The UPPA was founded in 1970 in the middle of an old city park.

  • Jean-Paul Céré is teaching there.
  • Pierre Tucoo-Chala took part in the creation of this university and there is professor emeritus.
