University of Minnesota

The University of Minnesota (in English, University off Minnesota ), which is in the “twin cities”, or of their true name Mineapolis-Saint Paul, is the oldest and larger part of the university system of Minnesota. Its studied body is the larger second in the United States according to statistics of the autumn 2005, with 51.175 students (behind the campus of the university of the State of Arizona with Tempe, Arizona). It is located on two campuses in the twin cities of Mineapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota; the campuses are bound by a system of bus reserved to the university and free.

In 2005, the university announced plans to drop the general university, the university of human ecology (CHE), and the university of the natural resources (CNR) as independent entities, amalgamating them in other schools. The general university and the university of human ecology amalgamate mainly in the university of education and human development, whereas the university of the natural resources amalgamates with the new university of food, agricultural, and sciences of natural resource. The conceive-directed programs of the university of human ecology will be amalgamated with the university of the architecture and the architecture of landscape (FIXED), creating a new university of design. These changes will bring back the number of schools and universities of 19 to 16.

The plans to close the general university are very discussed. Since its foundation in 1932, the general university was used the majority of first generation, low-income, handicapped person, and the students of color which came to the university. The closing of the general university was opposed by the students of the Minnesotan university, of the members of teaching body (in particular black teaching body in the university of the liberal arts), of the trade unions of the university, the Community groups, the local students, the general movement of truth of university, and of the levelling coalition of access. The university had each of the three branches of the bodies of training of leader of reserve.
