University of Leyde

The university of Leyde (in Dutch, Universiteit Leiden , UL) is oldest of the Université S Dutchwomen. Located at Leyde, it is very famous and was attended by several family members royal of the Netherlands.

History

To thank the inhabitants for Leyde of their heroic resistance against the Spanish , the prince William of Orange offered a university in 1575 to them. The university of Leyde was the first university Dutchwoman and opened officially the February 8th 1575: the dies natalis .

Organization

In 2006, the university counts 9 faculties and a school of Management:
  • Faculté of Médecine (exists since the creation of the university)
  • Faculté of the Art S which curiously is the faculty of languages (exists since the creation of the university)
  • Faculté of Droit (exists since the creation of the university)
  • Faculté of Mathématiques and Natural science
  • Faculté of Philosophie
  • Faculté of Théologie
  • Faculté of Archéologie
  • Faculté of human Social sciences and
  • Faculté of Applied art (created in 2001 in partnership with the College off Higher Education off Fine Arts, Music and Dance of $the Hague)
