University of Le Havre

The Université of Le Havre was inaugurated officially in 1984 by the Prime Minister for the time, Laurent Fabius. First lesson took place since 1967 but they depended on the Université of Rouen.

The university exempts many professional trainings, in particular with the IUT because it profits from the support of the companies of the valley of the Seine.

Currently, approximately 6000 students are registered on one of the three sites of the university: Lebon site, Frissard site and Caucriauville site. 460 teacher-researchers and secondary schoolteachers are employed. The budget of the university rises in 2005 to 42,7 million euros (including 25,5 million wage bill on the budget of the State).

Since 2005, the president is Camille Galap.

History

1966 : opening of the first IUT.
1970 : birth of the UER " Sciences & Techniques" (currently: UFR of the " Sciences and Techniques").
1972 : birth of the Faculty of the " Internationales" businesses;.
1984 : creation of the University of Le Havre (decree of the August 27th 1984).
1994 : opening of the Institute of higher learning of Logistic Studies (ISEL), school of engineers.
1998 : birth of the UFR " Letters & Humaines" Sciences; (scission with the faculty of the " Internationales" businesses;).
1999 : creation of the Technological Platform " Mechanics of the Systems in Composite" (PFT MSC).
2006 : opening of the news College library of Le Havre.
2006 : opening of the new University canteen.
