University of Lausanne
UNIL , or more precisely the University of Lausanne, is dispersed on three sites. Most of the infrastructures are on the site of Lausanne-Dorigny at the edge of the Lac Léman.
It is made up of seven following faculties:
- Letters
- Right and criminal Sciences
- School of the High Commercial Studies
- Social sciences and Politiques - SSP. With its four dies of formation:
- Political science
- Social sciences
- Psychology
- Sciences of the sport and physical education
- Theology and Sciences of the religions
- Biology and Médecine - FBM to which is attached CHUV
- Géosciences and environment - GSE
Approximately 2 200 professors and collaborators of teaching ensure the good walk of the institution. The UNIL counts more than 11 ' 000 students coming of more than 86 different Pays.
Before 2005, the academic ranks were the License, DEA and the Doctorat. Since the re-entry 2005, the University joined the European space of higher education by the passage of all faculties to the Processus of Bologna.
These last years, the School of pharmacy was transferred to the Université from Geneva to become the School of Geneva-Lausanne pharmacy, whereas chemistry, mathematics and physics were taken again by FPSL.

History
In 1537, Schola Lausannensis founded by the Bernese authorities the shortly after the conquest of the Country of Vaud. Composed of a college of six classes and a pulpit of theology, the purpose of it was the formation of pastors of the country and the instruction of youth. In 1890, the school becomes a University.
This university pluriséculaire had first of all established its districts in full heart of Lausanne, in the medieval district of the city, but the lack of place has constrained the cantonal authorities has to choose a larger site in the years 1980.
At present, the University of Lausanne is also a very active research center and of international reputation, thanks to the projects carried out by more than 125 teams for more than 100 million Swiss francs per year.

Nobel Prize

Representation of the students
The Fédération of associations of coeds (FAE) is the organization representative of the 11 ' 000 students of the university of Lausanne. It is member of the Union of the coeds of Switzerland. It publishes a newspaper, the audience , distributed free to 19 ' 000 specimens and financed partially by the Publicité.
