University of Genoa

The Université of Genoa (in Italian, Università degli studi di Genova ) is a Université Italy, whose seat is with Genoa, in Ligurie of which it is the only regional university.

Like the majority of the European universities having an old tradition, the origins of this university must be required in associations of professors and students. Such associations, in the form of colleges, deliver diplomas of right, theology and medicine as of the 13th century. The College of the Judges probably existed as of 1307 when the Captains of the people found a Gabelle and tax for each member of the College. In 1353, the tax exemption is confirmed for each member of the College. The statute of this College is promulgated by the Council of Old, the August 8th 1481.

From now on with the 21e century, the University of Genoa, with campuses also with Soaps, Imperia and Spezia, account 11 faculties, for a total of 125 taught principal matters and more than 90 delivered doctorates. Approximately 40.000 students.
