History

History

The University of Angers was founded during the 10th siècle.
Sous Saint Louis, celebrates it " Universitas Andegavensis " takes the changing of the universities existantes.
It is Charles V which gives him its noble letters in 1364 by creating the University " Right, Medicine and Théologie" .
In 1432, at the time of the King Rene, the pope Eugene IV recognizes officially the University of Angers.

Contemporary time

The history of the University at the 20th century is then marked by the creation of the University Scientific Center in 1958, then by the creation of IUT in 1966. In 1968 and 1970 are respectively created the University Legal College and the University Literary College. The latter are finally gathered in 1971 with the whole of other faculties and institutes to form current Université.

Presentation

The University of Angers has a broad offer of formation. It counts 17.000 students and 2.000 trainees in continuing education. The university is divided into three poles: Beautiful-Beille where the letters, the history, the languages and sciences are taught. Serge saint where the right and the economy are taught. Lastly, medicine is taught close to the University hospital. The pole Saint Serge consists of recent buildings (of 1996) and is located in the middle of the city. The pole Beautiful-Beille is, as for him, excentré.
