University hospital of Nantes

CHU of Nantes is a University hospital French which employs more than 8.000 people (at the beginning of 2007).

Care

The hospital ensures of the care of proximity for the population of the Nantes agglomeration and constitutes an establishment of recourse for the private and public health care institutions of Loire-Atlantique and the departments bordering (Maine-et-Loire, Morbihan, the Vendée…) when the assumption of responsibility of a patient requires the implementation of competences or the particular techniques.

It has a regional vocation, even interregional for the highly specialized care (transplantations, cancerology, neurosurgery, dealt with of the badly burned persons…).

Formation

The pole formation of the CHU of Nantes includes/understands 11 institutes and schools which prepare with diplomas going of the level V until Master in the fields of health and social work.

Seek

The CHU of Nantes takes part in the development of biomedical research mainly in the following fields:

  • immunology and transplantation,

  • hémato-cancerology,
  • human nutrition,
  • cardiovascular and thoracic pathologies,
  • cellular therapy and genic therapy,
  • biomaterials.
